Apple Live Text is the iOS equivalent of Google Lens: built in, free, and handy for grabbing a line or two of clear handwriting without installing anything. For quick copy-and-paste from a tidy note it does the job.

On cursive it drops noticeably, and it is limited to copy/paste with no batch processing or API. It is a convenience feature rather than a document tool.

If you are on an Apple device and your need is small and occasional, it is right there and worth trying first. For anything cursive, faded, or in volume, it will create more correction work than a specialist would.

Verdict

Convenient because it is already there, but limited to short, tidy captures; not a tool for real handwriting work.

Best for: iPhone and iPad users grabbing a short piece of clear handwriting on the fly.
