About
About this site
Best Handwriting OCR exists because the advice out there is mostly opinion. Search for the best handwriting OCR and you get lists that rank tools by which vendor wrote the article. We wanted a version that ranks them by what they actually do on real handwriting.
So we test. We run the same handwritten documents through every tool, score the output against a hand-checked reference, and publish the numbers alongside honest reviews, including where our top picks fall short. The full method is on the methodology page, and the underlying data is the same across every table on the site so the rankings stay internally consistent.
How we stay useful
A review is only worth reading if it tells you where a tool is weak. We say when the cheap cloud APIs are the right call, when a free phone tool is all you need, and when the "best" tool is overkill for your documents. Recommending the right tool for the job, including "you don't need to pay for this," is the point.
How this is funded
The site is reader-supported. Some of the links to the tools we review are affiliate links, and we may earn a commission when you sign up through them. That funds the testing and keeps the site free to read. It does not change the results: the rankings follow the measured accuracy, not the commission, and we review tools that pay us nothing right alongside the ones that do.
